A perfect idea?
Phones-For-Health is a $10 million project, backed by the U.S. Government and big companies, which will allow care workers in Africa to enter crucial information about AIDS in a local database, in real time, by using standard Motorola handsets equipped with proper software. This project will work to replace “archaic” and time-consuming methods of communication, such as the commonly used, and rather unpopular, pen and paper. While 60 percent of Africans live in areas where cell phone coverage can be found, internet and fixed-line phone connections are still quite rare. Within the next 3 years, 85 percent of Africans will live in areas with cell phone coverage, making this initiative quite ideal for everyone.
Unless you take into account that all these cell phones could cause a lot more waste and whole lot of cancer. Is there no such thing as a perfect idea?
